| Winter is Here |
| 6/9/2009 1:30:01 PM |
End of the show season and all the horses are in lighter work for the winter. I like this time of year....everyone is fresh when you turn them out and happy to just hang out and anticipate each meal. Hungry horses...they are darling in the AM when they can't wait for breakfast, hopeful at noon when they get supplements and lunch ONLY if they aren't prone to fat, and satisfied at night when they get what they consider enough... a hugh pile of hay to work on through the night!

| End of Summer, End of Pony Camp |
| 10/6/2005 4:22:14 PM |
We have just finished a summer of "pony camp" where we had 3 different kids a week for 3 hours monday-fri. Our ponies are exceptional and very patient (which is a requirement). I have to say the ponies are probably glad summer is over and they can return to their favorite past time...eating. Over the years we have built a fun workbook-activity book-coloring book which we will publish parts of on this web over time. It has been a great aid to us with the younger kids. We have also found it helpful to suggest that each parent read the United States Pony Club manual by Susan Harris (D level) with their kids at night. |

| After a couple of hours I still like it! |
| 10/6/2005 4:22:38 PM |
3 hours
into creating my site and blog and I really like this system. I have
quite a bit of control over graphics and think it will be very useful
for barns and trainers who don't have web designers or time to find
hosting services. You can get a web at zzn in about 1 min, start
creating and worst case you have a great email system you can use
immediately. Not bad...It really can be used by non technical types. |

| Day 1, Starting HorseWEBs Blog |
| 10/6/2005 4:24:07 PM |
|
Launching a new web is always great fun and a personal challenge. This is a new set of "free web" tools and I offered to be one of the first users. Because I'm a horse person AND interested in webs the folks over at ZZN gave me a preview of some of the enhanced Blog stuff coming down the road. But...actually...what they have free is pretty good.

Conventional Horse Wisdoms |
Since
the beginning of time Horses have produced some our our best truths.
"He is riding for a fall", or "Pride commeth before a fall" were
certainly about riders. We have a project underway to collect
equestrian specific sayings. Here are a few, but send us more.
- Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want
- If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'.
- If you think you're a person of some influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around.

TODAY'S ARTICLE:
Western Chic Style
The West’s vast grandeur conjures images of mountains, meadows lined with aspens and wildlife, small creeks and a feeling of freedom and self-sufficiency. Weston Chic is drawn from the old cattle ranches, dude ranches of the 1940’s and more modern gentleman ranches. These homes have an intentional goal to make visitors feel everything inside of the homes is built to “last” for generations. Each is a tribute to our past and the romance of the old west showcasing collections of memorabilia and fine art. Craftsmanship and use of natural materials, stone, logs, iron and animal hides create fabulous one of a kind type of pieces. Western homes are designed for entertaining with areas that encourage furniture to be pushed back for dancing, offices or libraries that double as billiard rooms and gardens and verandas built for Sunday barbeques and sunsets. .
